Vendor - Charles & Susan Planck of Wheatland Vegetable Farms
Since 1973 Charles and Susan Planck of Wheatland
Vegetable
Farms have been farming in Loudon County. Relying
on the most
ecologically friendly methods of production
available to them, they
currently grow vegetables and small fruits on about
35 acres of their
65 acre farm. Mostly college age seasonal workers
are hired to work
in the fields, and they sell the produce at the
market as well. Their attitude and committment towards this form of agriculture is noticed and well-loved by the family.
The Plancks have been coming to the Arlington market since its first year in 1980.
Over the years, Wheatland Vegetable Farms has
evolved with the
growth of the Arlington Courthouse Farmers' Market.
In response to
their customers' requests and feedback, the Plancks
now offer an
extraordinary variety of produce.
They especially enjoy the friendliness and
appreciation demonstrated
by their patrons. Fortunately for all of those who
enjoy Wheatland
Farm's produce, the Plancks are actively planning for
the long-term
preservation of the farm and its resources.
