Fresh at the Market
Although it’s finally winter, there are plenty fresh foods at the Arlington Farmers Market. Several growers have greenhouses
to keep greens and veggies coming all winter. And of course AFM producers have much more than vegetables.
- Bakeries
Atwater Bakery has a wide variety of Breads and other tasty treats.
Takoma Kitchens - Breads, Pastries, Pies, Granola, Empanadas and other
baked treats.
Valentine Bakery is a new vendor to the Winter Market this year.
- Dairies
Blue Highland Dairy - Fresh Milk, Cream, Butter, soft Cheeses, included
a Greek Olive Feta, and recently eggs.
Blue Ridge Dairy - Italian Cheeses including Mozzarella, Ricotta, Feta
and Mascarpone.
Fields of Grace - a variety of aged cheeses, including 5 kinds of
Cheddar, smoked and regular Gouda, Feta, and flavored cheese curds. The camembert won’t be available again until spring.
- Meats
EcoFriendly Foods - Beef, Pork, Lamb, Chicken, Sausages and Eggs.
Smith Meadow Meats - Free Range Beef, Pork, Veal, Goat, Lamb, Chicken
and Eggs. From the kitchen, Pasta and Sauces, special offer, $1 off if you buy one of each.
- Produce and Orchards
D & S Orchard - Jellies, Jams, and Syrups plus produce in season.
Endless Summer Harvest - hydroponic grown Lettuce and Herbs, whole heads
and Salad Mixes.
Sunnyside Organic is a new vendor to the winter market this year. Their
all organic goods include a variety of greens, baby turnips, sweet apple cider, as well as eggs and chicken.
Toigo Orchard - Apples and Pears, along with Horseradish, Salsas, Cider
and Cranberry-Apple Cider and Bourbon Peaches. The Apple butter has no added sugar.
Twin Springs Fruit Farm - Apples and Pears, Cider, Tomatoes, Squash,
Potatoes and Eggplant. Look for Cucumbers in a few weeks.
Mother Earth Organic Mushrooms - Mushrooms of course, but the Hedgehogs
and Woodears are available this time of year, and make a good addition to winter soups.
- Specialty
Bees ‘n Blossom - Honey, plain and spiced, and honey products including
Soaps, Creams, Lip Balm and cough soother. Their Plain Honey Jelly won a Blue Ribbon at the 2006 Virginia State Fair.
So Very Special sells soaps, creams, herbal products, and potted herbs.
Apologies if I missed a vendor. Don't you miss the great foods from the Producers only Arlington Farmers Market!
